Strategy:  Direct Mail.  Martin Burlingame’s referral solicitor is a self-mailer that can be hand-addressed or labeled. The content asks for four referrals. After the customer has filled in his or her referral names, the mailer is reversed folded and is taped closed so that there is no violation of privacy. The piece returns as a postage-paid business reply card. The agency has produced a companion piece that is a customer satisfaction survey.
