Committee-itis 

Good friend Wayne Texeira, marketing director at one of the country’s premier agencies, D. Francis Murphy Insurance Agency (Hudson, MA), sent along this note and quote. “This is the best quote of the day that I’ve seen recently.  Funny but true at times: A committee is a cul-de-sac down which ideas are lured, and then quickly strangled.” 

I am betting that we have all had this feeling about some committee meetings we’ve attended.  How many have you attended that started nowhere, went nowhere and ended up nowhere?   

On the other hand, we know that many heads can produce more than one head!  It’s a management issue.  Properly staffed and properly managed, committees are valuable vehicles for ideas and actions.
